• Concurrent Enrollment
    • Uni students have the unique opportunity to participate in concurrent enrollment classes through both the University of Illinois and Parkland College. Concurrent enrollment classes cannot be used towards graduation requirements and they do not replace required classes at Uni. This opportunity is meant to supplement areas of academic interest for students outside of Uni curriculum. Official college credit will be given at each institution and a permanent transcript will be created when a course is completed. Each school has different policies/procedures for participating. The processes are subject to change based on directives from the respective schools. Below is a summary of the basic requirements for participating in concurrent enrollment.
    • Concurrent Enrollment through the University of Illinois is available to most Freshman-Senior students who are aged 15 years and up with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must be 15 years old on or before the first day of the semester in which they are enrolling, no exceptions. Students must remain in good academic standing at both Uni and the U of I to continue to participate in concurrent enrollment. The U of I has graciously allowed Uni students to take most classes at no cost to the student during the fall and spring semesters. Students are responsible for covering the cost of textbooks and any course supplies. Each semester, more specific directives will be emailed out to parents and students about how to sign up for classes, enrollment deadlines, etc.
    • Concurrent Enrollment through Parkland College is available to most Freshman-Senior students who are aged 15 years and up. Students must be 15 years old on or before the first day of the semester in which they are enrolling, no exceptions. There is no tuition waiver for Parkland College. Students will be responsible for all tuition, textbook, or course material costs. To register for courses through Parkland College, students should apply as a non-degree student here: https://www.parkland.edu/Main/Apply-Now. Once they are approved, Parkland will give further directives on how to register for courses. Parkland will also provide a form that Uni has to sign to confirm the student is in good standing.
