At Uni High, David Hulett was on several committees, such as Student Council, Finance Committee, Tri-High Committee, and Policy Committee. He was in the Boys' Ensemble and Mixed Chorus, and was part of several operettas. He was a dedicated basketball player, serving as the team's captain. As a senior in high school, he received the S.A.R Citizenship Award and Elks Youth Leadership Award, and was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.
Once he left Uni, David Hulett received his B.A. from the Special Program for Public and International Affairs (Woodrow Wilson School) at Princeton University, and later received his Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University. At his firm, Hulett & Associates, LLC, a recognized leader in project cost and schedule risk management and project scheduling, he has clients in industries such as aerospace and defense, oil and gas, construction, bio-pharmaceutical plant construction, transportation, and IT. He has clients from the US, Canada, Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East. Dr. Hulett has authored several books, including Practical Schedule Risk Analysis (Gower, 2009) in 2010 and Integrated Cost-Schedule Risk Analysis (Gower, 2011). He has also served the Project Management Institute by leading project risk management and scheduling standards.
