Lisa Micele — Director of College Counseling (Juniors & Seniors)

Lisa Micele (lmicele) serves as the Director of College Counseling at the University of Illinois Laboratory High School, affectionaly known as "Uni High."

Lisa actively participates in college visitation programs to further enhance not only her knowledge of various college campuses but also the professional visibility of University Laboratory High School nationwide.  She is a member of NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) -- and has presented at regional, state and national conferences over her 21 year career.  She has served on various state & national advisory / scholarship selection committees, and is currently a "college counselor advisor" to the national Fiske College Guide series.

Lisa joined Uni High in 1993.  In 2000, Lisa received the CAPE (Chancellor's Academic Professional for Excellence) Award on the University of Illinois campus -- nominated for her work contributions, personal contributions, and professional contributions as an academic professional on campus.

The Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling awarded Lisa the "Newcomer Award" in 1997, and the "President's Service Recognition Award" for strong and consistent leadership to IACAC in 2003.

Lisa received both her B.S. and M.Ed. degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and completed a second M.A. degree in School Counseling from Lewis University. She holds a Type 73 endorsement -- earning School Counselor Certification in the state of Illinois.

Jessica Orban — Registrar & Office Manager

Jessica Orban (jorban) is the school Registrar and Student Services Office Manager. Jessica joined the Student Services Office at Uni High in 2012. 

As Uni High’s school registrar, Jessica maintains all student records and transcript requests.  She serves as liaison for concurrent enrollment at both the University of Illinois and Parkland College, oversees the coordination of Driver’s Education, and works with students on schedule changes and Independent Studies.  Students in need of certification through the NCAA Clearinghouse should use Jessica as a resource for completing this task during the college application process.  Jessica also works closely with the Director of College Counseling to assist in navigating the college application process during a student’s junior and senior years.    

Rachel Green — School Counselor

Rachel Jackson Green (rjjacksn) is a school counselor at Uni. Rachel is the club sponsor for the Asian American Media Club and the Circle of Estrogen Club at Uni. Prior to earning her graduate degree and coming to Uni, Rachel was the Prevention Education Coordinator/ Crisis Counselor at Rape Crisis Services where she facilitated prevention education programs at elementary, middle and high schools throughout Champaign (including Uni High), Ford, Piatt, and Douglas counties. Rachel incorporates the exciting consciousness-raising process of social justice education in her work as much as possible. She earned her B.A. from Eastern Mennonite University and her M.S.W. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

  Brooke Hyden — School Counselor

Brooke was born in Decatur, Illinois and is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Olivet Nazarene University and her masters in social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Over the past six years Brooke has worked as a mental health counselor in a variety of settings including a college campus, community mental health center and a local child advocacy center. Brooke is happily married and is an active parent to one daughter and three stepsons. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing guitar, singing and hiking.
