Summary: Freshman Jamie Blue continued to amaze in her first varsity season, scoring a game-high 22 points. Senior Jessi Sullivan added 16 points, including a three-pointer, as Uni ran away in the second half for a 25-point victory over the host Crusaders.

Next Game: Away at ECIC opponent Decatur Christian on Thursday, Jan. 8; varsity-only game to begin at 6 p.m.

BUCKLEY — Jamie Blue continued her stellar freshman season by scoring a game-high 22 points Tuesday night to lead Uni to a 60-35 conference win over host Buckley Christ Lutheran.

The Illineks raised their record to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the East Central Illinois Conference.

Senior Jessi Sullivan also had a big night, adding 16 points, including Uni's only three-pointer.

Playing their first game since an impressive 59-45 victory over LeRoy on Dec. 20, the Illineks built a 23-15 lead by halftime.

By the end of the third quarter, Uni had extended its margin to double digits, 42-28. An 18-7 run in the final stanza gave the Illineks a 25-point margin of victory, their largest of the season.

Senior Joy Shapley and junior Rachel Harmon added eight points apiece to the Uni effort.

The girls will return to action Thursday night when they travel to Decatur Christian for another ECIC game.

The Warriors are 3-10 overall, 0-4 in the ECIC. On Monday, they lost 64-32 to Judah Christian.

Looking ahead to the postseason, Uni has been assigned to the St. Joseph-Ogden regional in the Class 2A playoffs. Besides host SJO, the other teams in the bracket are St. Thomas More, Georgetown-Ridge Farm, and Westville.

Regionals are scheduled to begin Feb. 9. The IHSA will announce playoff seedings on Jan. 22.
