PAXTON — It was raining three-pointers Saturday night in Paxton, but unfortunately for Uni most of them landed in favor of the host Panthers.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda (15-3) used eight treys to double up the Illineks 65-32 in a nonconference game. With the loss, Uni drops to 10-7 overall while remaining 4-2 in East Central Illinois Conference play.

PBL's Dylan Overstreet was the evening's most prolific long-range shooter, nailing four baskets from behind the arc; he finished with 14 points.

Teammate Kendall Cox had a game-high 20 points, including two three-pointers.

Uni had just a pair of treys. PBL also outscored the visitors heavily at the foul line, hitting 13 free throws to Uni's four.

Junior Dan Lilly was the only Illinek to score in double digits, but his 12 points were significantly below the 19.7 points-per-game average he brought into the contest.

Senior Malcolm Taylor and junior Neil Pearson scored Uni's only three-pointers.

Defensively, senior Alan Kessler and sophomore Warren Skoza led the team with three blocks apiece; Skoza also had four rebounds.

The Panthers held Uni to single digits in each quarter. They took control of the game with a 16-7 first quarter and went into halftime ahead 29-16.

After the break, PBL used a 22-7 run to put the game away en route to a 33-point victory.

In JV action, the Panthers defeated Uni 50-29.

The Illineks will have a chance to get back into ECIC race when they travel across town Tuesday night to play Judah Christian in a conference showdown. Uni has two losses in the ECIC while Judah has one.

There's plenty of excitement left in the season. The Illineks still have a shot at the ECIC title if they can take care of business against the Tribe and avenge losses to Normal Calvary Baptist and Decatur Lutheran. All of the varsity's remaining regular-season games are conference matchups.
