Girls basketball: Illineks lose to Shiloh once again

URBANA — The Illineks lost to a very strong Shiloh team for the second time this year and by almost the same margin.

The Raiders came into Kenney Gym Tuesday night and left with an 81-50 nonconference victory. On Nov. 22, Shiloh defeated Uni 69-40 en route to winning the McDonald's Comet Classic with a 5-0 record.

With Tuesday's loss, the Illineks saw their record drop to 4-3 overall, 0-0 in the East Central Illinois Conference.

Shiloh took control early, leading 24-8 by the end of the first quarter and 39-19 at halftime.

The Raiders outscored Uni 42-31 in the second half to come away with a 31-point victory. In their first meeting, Shiloh beat Uni by 29.

Senior Rachel Skoza and freshman Jamie Blue continued to provide most of the Illineks' firepower. Blue scored 22 points and grabbed three rebounds. Skoza added 19 points, six rebounds, and four blocks.

In JV action, Shiloh defeated Uni 54-2.

The girls will host Villa Grove Thursday night in another nonconference matchup. The JV game will begin at 6 p.m., with varsity to follow.
