Pizza sales: A Uni tradition that must be kept

For six decades, pizza has been a Uni food sale. For over twenty years it has been a staple of the Uni diet, two times a week, $1 a slice. Gargoyle reporter William Givens wants it to stay that way.

Blog: English Please!

The other day my friend and I went to Bevande to get hot chocolate. This was my first time visiting there this year. When the cashier asked me what size I wanted for my hot chocolate, I looked up at the menu. What did I expect to see? Small, Medium, and Large. What did I see? Grande, Media, Piccola.

I like to think that I have a lot of time on my hands that I can use for worthwhile pursuits. Perhaps I could read or study math or get some extra sleep. Instead, I think it would be a better use of my time to make a log of best desserts ever.

Cooking for the culinarily challenged

I find myself constantly hungry. Well, actually that's not true, I just like to eat — a lot.

Unfortunately, I'm not very talented at cooking or baking. While my mom does make some really good stuff, sometimes it's just not enough and I find myself wishing I knew how to make (or had the ability to make) that delicious pie I saw on TV or the lasagna the characters on the show were eating.

Let them eat cake (in a cup)

I have a very limited amount of cooking skills. My mother likes to point out that I managed to explode instant oatmeal in a microwave. Normally, I have to wait for my brother to bake dessert for me when I crave sweet things.

Chocolate-chip cookies

I would like to make a public declaration: I am a chocolate-chip cookie fiend.

Goatspeak and research of a Sunday afternoon

What hints of springtime more than a baby farmyard animal? A whole herd of baby farmyard animals, of course! Last weekend I was able to frolic within whispering distance of black and brown and white baby goats at the Prairie Fruits Farm's spring open house/"kid" baby shower.

Inter-way urprise-say arty-pay!

Oops! Looks like the cat's out of the bag! I spilled the beans! I sure did throw the shingle, huh?

OK, so I made up that last one, but I think it's a good euphemism. Start using it. Tell all your friends.

Fine, then. Don't tell your friends. But do tell them to stick around after the last final this Friday. Why? I can't tell you. It's a surprise!

The Uni food experience — quirky but tasty

I like food. I like the texture, the smell, but most of all, I like the variety. I like to try new things and especially new restaurants. Being at a school with a student kitchen and being on a campus with a massive number of eateries ensures that we have limitless dining options.
