As the 2012-13 school year starts, the Gargoyle has found some things that are great, and some that are not so great. Read on to find out what we thought, and to add your own opinion!

The 2011-2012 school year at Uni has been full of highlights and exciting events. Gargoyle reporters Jonny Yockey and Kathryn Powell present the best and the worst of the year in the Cheers and Jeers end of school edition.

Now that the first semester has ended after many events--both good and bad--have happened this year, it's time to reflect and gather 'round the proverbial Yule log for another edition of Cheers and Jeers.

Agora Days is just around the corner! That means getting to cook and eat and watch movies and no homework. That's a great relaxing week for all, but we have to get through the cold and readjust to the normal-length classes without Uni Periods until then. This is extra torturous for us seniors who have no motivation to do anything with Senioritis in full effect. Look inside for the February edition of Cheers and Jeers.

The first half of the year is finally coming to a close, but Uni life is not slowing down. Finals are coming up. College apps are going out and college results are coming in. The winter surprise party is no longer a surprise or at the end of finals. Gargoyle editor Jenny Cooke has no shortage of opinions as she writes end-of-the-semester Cheers and Jeers.

We have only been at school for a week, but already there are plenty of things to cheer and jeer about. From a new TV in the lounge to a new system of security at Kenney, senior editor Jenny Cooke has no shortage of opinions.

Ah, May. You bring flowers instead of showers, shorts instead of sweatshirts, and summer instead of school. We're glad to say that 2009-10's been a pretty good school year at Uni, but there may still be just a few thorns in our side worth jeering about. Check inside to find out.

Spring break might be over, but that's no reason to be glum. Far from it! Fourth quarter is well under way, and that means the end of the school year is well within sight. Eight weeks to go, baby! Check inside for the latest cheers, and (of course) a few good-natured jeers.

With about four months (but who’s counting?) left in the school year, we’re all more than halfway done. A lot of things have been going swimmingly well. But how long can we suppress our cynical sides? Check inside to find out who comes out on top in the OG’s recurring optimist/pessimist battle.

Finally! While it's hard to believe winter break is here already, we've certainly been counting down. Hurray for two weeks of hot chocolate, baking, sleeping until mid-afternoon, family visits, and general relaxation. And with the end of the fall semester comes our latest edition of Cheers & Jeers. Guess what tops our list of cheers?

It's Thanksgiving! Who doesn't love a holiday entirely devoted to eating delicious food — er, we mean, "being thankful"? Even if you don't celebrate, who couldn't use the extra three days off? Naturally, senior editors Laura Dripps and Maritza Mestre give the autumn holiday a big thumbs up. So what else is on their list?

First quarter is done — three more to go! If that sounds like a cheer, you're right. There's lots to cheer about, from awesome standardized test results to fine musicianship to inspiring athletic accomplishments. As for jeers, when "The Game" is one of your complaints, you know you're leading a charmed existence.

With the return of school comes Cheers & Jeers, the Online Gargoyle's pithy and always good-humored look at the highs and lows of life at Uni High. We've only been back for three days, but already there's plenty to talk about. Senior editors Laura Dripps and Maritza Mestre do the honors.

That's it, folks! The time seems to have gone by incredibly fast. We'll miss Director Steve Epperson as he leaves after two superb years of guiding our school, and those of us coming back in August look forward to greeting our new director, Jeffrey Walkington. In the meantime, we leave you with our last edition of Cheers & Jeers for 2008-09!

The year is nearly over, and the Gargoyle senior editors have plenty of opinions on everything, led by a big cheer for their impending graduation. But there's always a jeer waiting on the flipside: "While most of the seniors can't wait to get out of here, there are also some underlying feelings of dread and sadness that come with thoughts of leaving Uni forever, and having to become real adults."
