As the weather warms and the school year is winding down, juniors and seniors will have one last craze to get down at Prom Royale 2013.

As fourth quarter begins, the weather is making it hard to stay inside. Students look forward to summer vacation delightedly, and the upperclassmen are excited for this year's prom!

This past Saturday, April 16, Uni's upperclassmen danced the night away at prom. Hosted by the junior class, this year's "Happily Ever After" prom was held from 7 p.m.-12 a.m. at Kennedy's at Stone Creek. For those who missed out on the wild dancing at prom, or want to relive it, the Gargoyle captured pictures of friends, couples, and the overall festivities.

As fourth quarter and April approach, students' minds turn toward spring and - for the upperclassmen - the largest dance of the year.

The beginning of the fourth quarter means Uni juniors and seniors have prom coming up right around the corner. This year's theme is "Old Hollywood," and the dance will take place on May 1 at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center. Registration will once again occur online and is already open. After last year's Royal Masquerade, how about "A Night in Vegas"? Invites for this year's prom are set to go out to junior and senior e-mail accounts Monday. The Vegas-themed event will be held May 9 at Champaign Country Club, followed by a post prom at the Activities and Recreation Center on campus.

Tight budget for prom? Find out how to get a dress and accessories for free! The Perfect Prom Project, a registered student organization at the University of Illinois, will sponsor Boutique Day at the Illini Union from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. High school girls from throughout Central Illinois are invited to choose free prom dresses and accessories. All you need is a valid high school ID. Junior/senior prom has always been one of Uni's most exciting events, but this year the prom committee has decided to kick it up a notch. Featuring a masquerade theme, a new Web site, and a chance to win an iPod Touch, Prom 2008 is greatly anticipated.
