X-week
This year, X-week will take place during the first week of May. Student Council has decided to have their goal of money that will be raised from X-week be $3000. There will be two charities that will each receive half of the money raised. The two charities will be the Spring Initiative and the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. The events for each class are listed below:
Subfreshmen: Smoothie sale.
Freshmen: Bake sale. There will be cupcakes. All of them will have a marking on the bottom of them, and prizes will be awarded to ones with a specific mark.
Sophomores: Undecided.
Juniors: Breakfest sale.
Seniors: Senior Auction.
More information on X-week will be provided in the future.
Subbie Buddy applications
Subbie Buddies are Uni freshmen and above who mentor incoming subfreshmen that will attend Uni. Their aims are to make the subfreshmen not only feel welcome, but also to connect with each other. Applications for Subbie Buddies can be found in a e-mail sent by counselor Rachel Green titled "SUBBIE BUDDY applications for next year!". Submit them by Apr. 23 to the SSO either online or bybhard-copy.
Student representatives on the search committee for administrative positions
For next year, there will be two administrative positions that will need to be filled. There are two search committees, one for Associate Director and one for Assistant Director Student Life. Students will take part in both committees. For the Associate Director, its sophomore Chas Newman. For the Assistant Director Student Life, they are junior Bissy Michael and sophomore Sam Leroy. Radon contest results
For the third quarter, the sophomores all took part of a contest for Chemistry A, taught by chemistry teacher David Bergandine. There were three categories that the students could categorize their videos as: drama, comedy, and musical. Out of all the videos, forty-seven were entered for drama, thirty-four for comedy, and thirteen for musical. Two of the videos won awards, both in musical. For second place was Radon Ralph & The Household Threats: A Jingle. In third was Radon, A Parody of Friday. To see these videos and the rest of the contest winners, click the link here.
Day of Silence
The Day of Silence is observed in many high schools and colleges in the United States. The purpose of Day of Silence is to bring awareness the bullying of silencing of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) people. Students help by taking a vow of silence for the entire day. This year, Day of Silence takes place on Apr. 20. However, as there will be no school on Apr. 20, it will instead be observed on Tues., Apr 24. To sign up or learn more, attend a GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) meeting. They are held on Wed. during lunch in room 106S.
Gargoyle Gala Auction and 90-Year Grand Reunion
On Saturday, Apr. 21, the Gargoyle Gala Auction and 90-Year Grand Reunion took place. This year the events were chaired by Uni parent Janet LeRoy. In addition, the Uni alum had a all-class reunion on Friday, Apr. 20 and a all-class brunch on Sunday, Apr. 22. The student ambassadors that attended are listed below:

Latin competition results
Uni students in Latin recently competed in two competitions, the National Latin Exam and and the Illinois Latin Tournament. The National Latin Exam took place on Mar. 14 is comprised of over 148.000 students from all 50 states and thirteen foreign countries. Certificates and medals (Gold and silver) are given to the top performers.

Big Show 2011 DVD
For the first time, last year's Big Show has been put together into one DVD. Not only does it contain high quality videos, live recordings, and commentaries from the directors, there is also never-before-seen behind-the-scene videos. The DVD is being sold for $4. All of the proceeds will go to Big Show 2012. To purchase one, buy them from either senior Will Erickson or junior Stirling Lemme.
