Uni High held their commencement ceremony at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, May 21 for the 62 members of the class of 2011.

Uni Director Jeff Walkington welcomed students, faculty and family to the graduation ceremony. He then introduced class president Chris Mathy to give the student welcome.

The Graduation Choir, under the direction of Rick Murphy, Music Director, performed two pieces in honor of the graduates.

Parent-Faculty Organization President, Irene Cooke gave her congratulations to the graduates, as did Keith Marshall, Associate Provost at the University of Illinois.

Marshall also awarded the Max Beberman Distinguished Alumni Award to John E. Finch, class of 1952. Finch gave an acceptance speech followed by a music piece by seniors Wynee Bao, Claire Liu, and Katherine Floess.

The Commencement Address was given by English teacher Matthew Mitchell, who was elected to speak by the class of 2011.

Then the graduates received their diplomas and watched a slide-show of pictures from their five years at Uni.

David Stone, biology teacher, told a story for the Benediction.

Finally, Buck Walsh delivered the Student Farewell and the most recent graduates of Uni High marched out to "Show Goes On" by Lupe Fiasco.

Woah we're alumni!

Congrats everyone (and myself :P). I had a great time (laughing and crying), and hopefully everyone else did too.

And also, I just discovered that comments from a verified account appears instantly without review. Yay!
