For the first time, Green Club is organizing a group for the annual Boneyard Creek Community Day. Though the Boneyard Creek Community Day has been present in the community for many years, Green Club just decided to sponsor a group this year.

"We are a community-oriented club and this [the Boneyard Creek Community Day] is a great thing to do," says Green Club co-president Grace Anastasio. During the Boneyard Creek Community Day, students will clean up local waterways, remove non-native plants, and install storm drain medallions.

The Boneyard Creek Community Day will be held on Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will meet at Scott Park on the corner of Third Street and Springfield Avenue before heading out to clean-up.

If you have participated in the event in the past, and still have your shirt, it is requested that you wear it. If you do not have a shirt from previous years, one will be provided for you. It is recommended to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. Bringing a water bottle is also advisable, and it can be refilled at Scott Park.

At noon, after clean-up is done, lunch will be provided for all volunteers back at Scott Park.

In order to be part of the Uni group, you need to email Grace Anastasio at anastas3@uni.illinois.edu by Friday, April 8.

"There was a lot of trash [in Boneyard Creek]" says former participant junior Marie Lilly. At the end of the clean-up, with help from Uni students, Boneyard Creek will be clean for another year.
