ICTM '11: Uni wins region, advances to state finals
Published: Sunday, March 6, 2011 - 11:11am
CHAMPAIGN - On Sat. March 5, Uni placed first overall in the 3AA division of the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics regional math contest hosted at Parkland College.
The roughly 60-member team finished with 622 points, the fourth highest total score in the state. Walton Payton College Prep had the state's top 3AA score with 694 total points.
Division 3AA is intended for schools with enrollments between 1,000 and 1,999. Although Uni has an enrollment of only 240 students in grades 9-12, the school traditionally competes in 3AA in order to face tougher competition.
Now, a team of select students will advance to represent the school at the state finals, which will take place on April 30 at the University of Illinois.
Last year, following another regional win, Uni went on to place 7th at the state finals.

Congratuations and some questions
First, congratulations for another strong showing!
Now the questions: Who are the team members for the algebra1 and 2 team, and for the geometry team? Did we have a Freshmen-Sophomore 8 person team this year?
Bravo!!! What a wonderful
Bravo!!! What a wonderful credit to you all, your teachers and Uni.
Response
The Math Department is unable to provide the names of the members of those teams, for their own reasons. Uni had a Freshmen-Sophomore 8 person team, but it did not receive a distinction at the competition. Thanks for your reading!
Good job and a response
Excellent work!
My son Nathan was on the Freshman-Sophomore 8-person Algebra 1 team, but they didn't win. So does that mean the winning Algebra 1 team was junior-senior? I'm confused on this.
