URBANA – Fifty-one current Uni seniors and 2 former members of the class have been named Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

According to the website, the program recognizes students for their outstanding academic achievement. ISAC awards the State Scholar distinction based on class ranking and SAT and/or ACT scores. For non-ranking schools like Uni, ISAC focuses solely on standardized test scores.

All seniors are automatically considered for the honor. To be eligible, they must have taken either the SAT or the ACT during their junior year. The designation is an honorary title and does not come with a monetary award.

Last year, 49 members of the Class of 2010 were named State Scholars.
