ICTM '09: Defending state runner-up Uni wins regional title
Published: Monday, February 23, 2009 - 3:54am
CHAMPAIGN — Uni High won first place in Division 3AA at the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics regional contest Saturday at Parkland College.
The Uni team, consisting of 60 students, finished with 577 points, the sixth-highest 3AA regional score anywhere in Illinois. Vernon Hills had the state's top 3AA score, 660.
Although 3AA is for schools with enrollments between 1,000 and 1,999 students, the much smaller Uni traditionally competes in that category in order to face tougher competition.
The team now advances to the ICTM state finals, which will be held May 2 at the University of Illinois.
Last year the school won the Parkland regional with 716 points and finished second at the state contest. Vernon Hills won the state title in 3AA.

Congratulations for a great
Congratulations for a great showing!
Also, there are also 1st place, 2nd place etc for the Parkland Medallions. Can you report
that? Doing so can encourage and motivate the students more and help them do better
the next time. Placements were reported for previous ICTM's, for example, last year's
ICTM.
not sure
I'm not sure what you're talking about. The information about placings is already provided. From what I can tell, the information on placings in this year's story is the same as in last year's article. Please let us know what we're missing.
