Audio Slideshow: Quiz in the Attic 2012

The first ever Quiz in the Attic took place Friday, March 16. Contestants competed in the exciting and humorous quiz show put on by the Intro to Radio class. Three teams of two answered a variety of questions ranging from sports to slang to see who would be the champions and take home the Quiz in the Attic trophy.

Rallying for research: Coaches vs. Cancer 2012 audio slideshow

To start Spirit Week and support the fight against cancer, the third annual Coaches vs. Cancer basketball game was held on on Jan 23, as well as cancer-related activities throughout the day. The varsity boys and girls' teams both played against Buckley Christ Lutheran, who was also involved in the events of the night. The girls won against BCL 61-26, and the boys won 66-18.

For over 15 years Uni students have gone down with Dr. Bill Sutton and built homes in the Mississippi Delta during Agora Days. With a newly founded Habitat for Humanity club and a fund raising goal for the year of $48,000, the group seems to be as strong as ever. The Online Gargoyle has put together a small documentary encapsulating Habitat for Humanity at Uni High.

On Friday, Nov. 19, Gargoyle reporter James Boyle attended the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I at Savoy 16 Cinema. He was met with a variety of interesting people, all with their own stories about Harry Potter.

Uni's annual subbie retreat was held on Aug. 27 at Crystal Lake Park. Students of the Class of 2015 made new friends, while hula hooping their way through the day. Overall, the day was a success and a lot of fun for those involved. Check inside for some pictures of the festivities.

Check out the third and final installment of our Prom '10 slideshows. Before students entered the Alice Campbell Alumni Center on the evening of May 1, many met to take pictures and go out to dinner. In parks, backyards, and gardens, students made pre-prom memories for the years to come. See for yourself!

Prom '10 slideshow: Chilling and mingling at the Big Dance

The second installment of our Prom '10 slideshow is here! At the Alice Campbell Alumni Center students gathered for a night of dancing. However they not only danced, but talked, ate, and relaxed on the couches. Check out the photos of students who were able to enjoy each other's company off the dance floor.

Prom '10 slideshow: Star treatment on the red carpet

Prom '10, with the theme of Old Hollywood, was held Saturday at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center in Urbana. More than 100 students attended the event dressed in their formal attire, making for plenty of exciting pictures as prom-goers danced the night away, at least until it was time to head to post-prom at the Illini Union. Audio slideshow: A Uni success story — Coaches vs. Cancer

Last month, Uni High joined in the fight against cancer by joining Coaches vs. Cancer, a nationwide effort by American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to raise money to help find a cure for cancer. The result was a Uni success story: $2,200 was raised for the American Cancer Society's research efforts.

Multimedia: A farewell to UHGB seniors

When the final buzzer went off in the Illineks' 65-36 loss to St. Thomas More on Feb. 11, it signified the end of Uni's 2009-10 season. But for five seniors, it also meant the end of their Uni basketball careers. Three sophomore players put together this slideshow to say goodbye to their Class of 2010 teammates.

This past Saturday ESPN's basketball College Gameday crew arrived on campus to get the Illini fans ready for their team's big game against the Michigan State Spartans, who were at the time ranked fifth in the nation. Will Fernandez was at Assembly Hall to take in the sights and sounds of one of the best student crowds in the country.

Uni High's favorite formal dance took place Jan. 9 in the Illini Union, and the event was the best part of coming back to school after a long winter break. Eric Chen, Chris Yoder, and Japanese teacher Hiroko Ito all took photos of students in their formal gear as they gave their best poses. Come on in and see for yourself!

Video game review: "The Ballad of Gay Tony"

So if you are looking to unwind and relax after finals, you would be hard-pressed to find a better option than sitting back, committing a felony or two, and outwitting the police in what can definitely be called the wildest "Grand Theft Auto" game yet. Check inside for Luke Karmazin's review. "This expansion shows that there is still plenty of life left in the 'Grand Theft Auto' universe," he writes.
