A victorious Tuli Bera crosses the finish line in the 100-meter dash Friday, May 8, at the St. Joseph-Ogden Lady Spartan Classic. The junior sprinter won the event in 13.37 seconds. Senior Lizzy Warner placed sixth in the 300 hurdles (52.66), and Uni tied for 12th out of 17 scoring teams. The girls will compete in the Class A sectionals at Tolono Unity High School on Friday, May 15. After missing much of the track season due to injury, Bera is back and ready to challenge for a place at the IHSA state meet. Last year she finished third in the 100 at sectionals, missing a qualifying berth by a thousandth of a second. (The top two athletes in each event at sectionals automatically qualify for state.) The state meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 (prelims), and Saturday, May 23 (finals), at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
