Junior Albert Anastasio (218) maintained a pace of five minutes, 23 seconds per mile in Saturday's IHSA Class 1A boys cross country state finals. Anastasio covered the three-mile course at Peoria's Detweiller Park in 16:09 to finish 33rd overall. He led the Illineks to ninth place as team. Senior Nathan Smith placed 53rd (16:26) and junior Buck Walsh 54th (16:28). Finishing the scoring for Uni were sophomore Iain Konigsberg (89th, 17:01) and senior Langston Allston-Yeagle (92nd, 17:02). Also competing for the Illineks were seniors Andrew Weatherhead (132nd, 17:44) and Jack Snyder (155th, 18:33).
