In her final Twin City Championship meet, senior Elizabeth Russell heads toward a third-place finish Tuesday at Illini Meadows. She ran the three-mile course in 20 minutes, 13 seconds, an improvement of 44 seconds on her fifth-place performance from last year. With Russell leading the way, the Uni girls came in fourth out of six Champaign-Urbana teams. At the 2008 Twin City meet, injuries prevented the Uni girls from fielding enough runners for a scoring team. On the boys side, the Illineks repeated as Twin City champions, defeating runner-up Centennial 34-43. Senior Nathan Smith placed second with a near-record time of 16:17.
