Skaters zoom around the University of Illinois Ice Arena rink at Saturday night's ice skating party put on by Student Council. The event's sponsor and Uni's chemistry teacher, David Bergandine (pictured furthest left), gets ready to pass senior Jeremy Kemball (next furthest left). In total, more than 125 students, faculty, and parents showed up for the skating party. Student Council hosted the Nov. 22 event in lieu of a dance. This is the second year Student Council has hosted the ice skating event. Executive president Isaac Chambers said StudCo decided to host another ice skating party this year because "dances have become less popular over the years, and Student Council has been making an effort to offer alternatives." After the party, Assistant Director Sue Kovacs suggested school ice skating events should be done more often.
