NO ONE CAN deny that Champaign-Urbana is becoming pretty hip. With high rises and new restaurants sprouting up, our humble university town is finally having a much-needed growth spurt.
Aside from the changing architecture and food scene, our music scene seems to be getting better than better. At the front of this progress is the Pygmalion Music Festival, an annual indie music festival created by local music guru Seth Fein.
Last month, from Sept. 16 to 19, the Pygmalion Music Festival tucked a fifth year under its belt. The festival, which took place in venues across Champaign-Urbana, drew in a huge crowds and hosted bands from around the country. More than 100 bands performed at Pygmalion, some of the highlights being folk artist Iron & Wine, master DJ RJD2, and mash-up duo The Hood Internet.
Gargoyle writers Sindha Agha and Will Fernandez worked to cover the event and took time to talk to the brain behind it all, Seth Fein. The video/slideshow above features footage and photos of two of the bands who performed at Pygmalion, Autolux and Starf****r.
