Video: Green Club's Bike-to-School Day

URBANA — On Sept. 29, throngs of eager, helmeted Uni students flocked to the bike rack from all over the C-U area, rolling in just in time for the first bell.

Intent on raising earth-friendly enthusiasm at school and in the community, Green Club organized Uni's first-ever Bike-to-School Day as a launching point for other eco-activities throughout the year.

Almost 30 students — or 10 percent of the school population — took up the challenge, crowding the bike racks from early morning to late afternoon.

If you weren't able to experience Bike-to-School Day firsthand as a participant, observer, or freeloading sampler of its complimentary breakfast treats, listen up as Green Club co-presidents Maria Gao and Brittany Scheid explain the nuts, bolts, and sprockets of the event and share their environmental savvy.
