Self-image

The end of the school year is coming, and with that comes yearbooks.

The ones with our pictures in them.

The embarrassing picture where you end up having squinting eyes, messy hair, and a little something (who knows what) stuck in your braces.

Years from now when we look back, the last thing we want is for people to look at our pictures and remember us in that way.

I don't know much about guys, but I cannot tell you how many times in my life I have seen girls fussing and primping themselves so that their pictures will look good. Trust me I am one of them.

But interestingly enough, you don't see as much of that here at Uni. The more relaxed environment gives girls a wide comfort range in terms of dressing. Compared to their peers at many other high schools, Uni girls have the freedom to dress however they want and still be accepted and not branded a freak or nerd or goth or jock or any of the other lame stereotypes society has accumulated over the years.

Maybe I tend to freak out about the way I look, but here at Uni we have a wide range of girls — from those who spend an extra hour just to fix their hair to those who throw on pajama pants and a T-shirt and are ready to go.

But is it the same outside of Uni?
