DELAND — The Illineks had another easy win Tuesday night at DeLand-Weldon as they beat the home team 71-36.

This conference victory puts them at 14-7 overall and 8-2 in the East Central Illinois Conference. Uni and Normal Calvary Baptist have two conference losses apiece; the teams would share the ECIC title if they each win out.

Led by senior Alan Kessler's 11 points and seven rebounds in the first half, the Illineks were able to build a solid 18-13 lead early in the game.

Kessler, a senior forward, finished with 21 points and eight rebounds, while junior Dan Lilly finished with a game-high nine steals and 23 points, 18 of which came from outside the arc.

Lilly's six three-pointers gave him 60 treys for the year, just one behind 2008 alum Mike Renner's season record of 61, set in 2006-07.

Fellow junior Costa Cangellaris contributed eight points against the Eagles, including a pair of three-pointers.

Sophomore Warren Skoza again put in an impressive performance down low with six points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.

Senior Malcolm Taylor led the way in assists with six; he also recorded four rebounds and one steal.

The host Eagles, never really in the game after the first quarter, got a team-high 15 points from Zach Roberts.

The Illineks will host Decatur Lutheran in a conference matchup Tuesday at Kenney Gym. The Lions beat the visiting Illineks 51-40 on Jan. 22. Uni must win the rematch to have a chance to claim a share of its fourth conference title in five years.
