Big Show 2007: Bigger, longer, stranger ... and funnier

“IT'S GOING TO be bigger, longer, funnier, and stranger than ever,” said senior Devin Johnson as he covered the computer screen with a piece of paper to prevent me from peeking at his secret project under works.
What was he hiding?
Well, whatever it was will be unleashed to the public this weekend as a part of Big Show.
Johnson and fellow senior Scott Sapp are co-directors of Big Show, the annual production held at the end of X-Week. It is typically a humorous series of sketches that are written, directed, acted in, and produced by students.
This year, the show will take place 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the North Attic.
Tickets cost $4 for students and $5 for others, with proceeds going to CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates — the charity that Student Council selected for this year's X-Week.
Although Big Show 2006 elicited hearty guffaws for its spoofs on popular television shows such as MTV's “Cribs,” look for something different this time around.
“This year the material is all more original with the sketches being longer and more developed,” Sapp said. “We've even written some of our own music.”
Johnson added, “We were able to get a lot of teachers involved who haven't been before but really really should have been.”
This year, a teacher from the science department makes his rapping debut in one of the video sketches.
“I think it's gold,” laughed Sapp.
“Besides,” said Johnson, “coming to Big Show is better than hanging out with your friends.”
