I like to think that I have a lot of time on my hands that I can use for worthwhile pursuits. Perhaps I could read or study math or get some extra sleep. Instead, I think it would be a better use of my time to make a log of best desserts ever. I realize this will be a difficult task, and my expectations are ambitious, but I think like the movie critic I read about who saved every ticket stub, it would be interesting to a future me, many years down the road, to have a tab of every dessert I've consumed.

I decided to do this after watching an episode of one my favorite TV shows, Dexter. In the episode, a woman with terminal cancer confesses that it is her goal to find the perfect key lime pie before she dies, and that she has been searching for years to no avail. That is, until Dexter comes in, and he helps her in more than one way. I thought that was an interesting idea, and so I think I'll take it upon myself to do a similar thing.

But that influence aside, I shall forget everything I thought I knew about a good dessert. I've always avoided anything with the word "creme pie" in it. Not anymore. Bread pudding? I'm game. I'll spare nothing foreign or vaguely ethnic; I'm open to anything. But for now I'll simply keep a list of desserts and places selling desserts that I have always loved; my Cartesian safe-house until I can build another one.

So this is where a reader comes in! Anything that I should try for dessert in the area, please give me a suggestion! I like certain desserts in the area so much that I generally don't vary my selection. Hence, the need for input. Do not spare me. My journey begins tonight.

Rhubarb pie

If you've never had a homemade rhubarb pie, you need to find someone to make you one this summer when rhubarb is in season!

Rhubarb dipped in sugar.

Rhubarb dipped in sugar. Delicious.

Coconut macaroons. Drizzled

Coconut macaroons.
Drizzled with melted chocolate of course (or drowned, whatever you prefer).

No photo provided

These both sound wonderful.

These both sound wonderful.

I once had rhubarb pie and didn't like it much, but as I said earlier, I'll dispose of my preconceived notions. Also, it wasn't homemade, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it.

I have had macaroons but not coconut macaroons. I'll have them (make them if I have to) sometime over break.

Thanks!

Pecan Pie

I highly recommend a well made pecan pie! You haven't tasted delicious until you take a bite out of a warm slice of pecan pie! Add some vanilla ice cream for an even yummier treat.

chinese dessert <3

you have to try anything chinese with the word rice ball in it...
sesame rice balls with red bean paste inside are delicious, and so are rice balls filled with different sweet pastes. another thing worth trying is sticky rice cooked by wrapping it in a banana leaf (or some other leaf, im not sure) and boiling it. yum.
im not actually sure about these names, theyre what they literally are...
