Senior Songs
Published: Monday, November 8, 2010 - 8:09pm
The only way I've ever been able to remember my years at Uni is through my various play lists organized by "Subbie Cutting Edge Mix" or "ACT Jr. Study Mix." I seem to have a playlist for everything through my Uni career, even a "Before Winter Fromal '09" and an after party mix. So, hey, why not share a few songs that are committing the "My laster semester...Mix!" to memory?
"Hang With Me"
Robyn
Swedish synth-pop sensation Robyn has been gaining success in the states, in particular, since she just guest stared on Gossip Girl, and I'm not surprised why. Her music is perfect for any situation. I listen to it while I study, when I'm driving in the car, or when I just want to get up dance! This my personal favorite song of hers, though it's pretty close to her song "Fembot." "Hang With Me" has the sweetest of lyrics, delivered with the catchiest tune. It's going to be playing on repeat in my iTunes library for the next few weeks, I swear.
"First Train Home"
Imogen Heap
Imogen Heap has the best music videos. Hands down. To be perfectly honest, I don't love all of her music. I personally think "I Megaphone" is one of the worst albums of all time. However, "First Train Home" is simply divine, and no matter how many times I listen to it, I don't get bored with it, unlike one of her most popular songs "Goodnight and Go".
"So This Is Goodbye (Pink Ganter Remix)"
William Fitzsimmons
If you don't love this song, then I don't know what to tell you. I'm on fan of Fitzsimmons, but any song with even a bit of electro sounds heavenly to me. Not to mention that the talk of saying "good bye" and talking about changes has got to be in any seniors music mix! This is my go to song since it's not in the least bit depressing!
"Me and Jane Doe"
Charlotte Gainsbourg
Charlotte Gainsbourg is one of my favorite women. Her latest album, IRM, which came out last year, is quite different from anything I've ever heard. "Me and Jane Doe" is the mellowest song on the record and it's by far the best track to listen to while walking on the state streets or studying for an upcoming test.
"Young Blood"
The Naked And Famous
I first heard this song while I was in Australia in August. Tt was everywher and I was in love with it. After a few more listens, the song's novelty wore off. But when I turned my library on shuffle last week, this number came on and it brought me back to the surfing and koalas and reminded me that there is no way I can have a playlist from this year without this song!
"Windstorm"
School of Seven Bells
I don't know what it is about this song, but whenever I hear it, I crave to jump into a pile of leaves! To me, something about it brings back memories of my fall breaks on the East coast and doing festive activities. I guess I need to incorporate a little nostalgia in my mix, somehow!
