This past weekend, Uni theater fans flocked to the North Attic to watch this year's spring musical, "Kiss Me, Kate". The show was an enjoyable blend of fun musical numbers and a creative plot that kept the audience entertained. Furthermore, this production marked Uni fine arts teacher Barbara Ridenour's last before she leaves the school at the end of this year. With "Kiss Me, Kate", she went out with a bang.

Subfreshmen honored at Insect Fear art contest

Two Uni students have been honored in the annual Insect Fear Film Festival's annual art contest. Subfreshmen Alice Trellakis and Gillian Moore won first and second places respectively in the grades 6-8 category of the competition.

Four Uni Students Selected for IMEA All-State

This year, four Uni students were selected to go to the IMEA All-State Conference. Next month they'll be performing with top high school musicians from around the state in Peoria.

StudProd '10 preview: Nothing much ado about the last wishes of a Russian existentialist

It's time again for StudProd, Uni's annual collection of student-directed plays. This year's show features four original plays and opens this Friday at 7:30 in the North Attic Playhouse. Tickets are $4 for students, seniors, and faculty, and $5 for everyone else.

"Our Town" Review: A Unique Uni Play

This year's fall play was "Our Town." Written by Thornton Wilder, it was one of the different productions put on by the Fine Arts Department. The play took place last week on the evenings of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and was a major success overall.

Fall play '10: "Our Town" to premiere this Thursday

It's time again for Uni's annual fall play. This year, under the direction of Barbara Ridenour, the school will be putting on a performance of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town." The play will take place this Thursday at 7 p.m. and again this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the North Attic Playhouse. Tickets are $6 for students, $7 for adults.

Director Barbara Ridenour has announced the cast of "Our Town", this year's fall play. "Our Town" will take the stage November 5-7 in the North Attic Playhouse. For the cast list, check inside.

After a long decision process, theater director Barb Ridenour and the thespians chose "Our Town" as the 2010 fall play. Auditions begin this week for the complex character drama written by Thornton Wilder. For those who wish to join the cast, auditions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the North Attic.

This year's Big Show, Uni's annual production of student-written and -directed comedy sketches, was held on May 8 and 9 in the North Attic. As the culminating event of the X-Week, all proceeds from the show will go to the school's charity of choice, the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.

Whether you see her in the music room or out on the soccer field, it's clear the senior Katie Buzard is a standout. She's been involved in activities such as piano, Madrigals, and Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana, not to mention girls soccer. Katherine Allen recently met with Katie to learn a bit more about her wealth of activities and find out her plans for the future.
