Graphic created by Will FernandezHere is the official OG bracket for the Best Movie Villains of All Time.

Welcome back to A&E Bracketology! We are down to our Sweet 16 this week and as before it is a fight to the death between film's most fearsome villains. When voting, take into consideration, the strength, speed, defense, and weapons. You decide who of these 64 villains is the deadliest. The deadline for voting will be Wednesday, May 11th.

Enjoy!

Vote Darth Vader Terminator
Vote here for Darth Vader vs. Terminator.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
: You don’t mess with the Dark Lord of the Sith. Darth Vader has decades of training in the ways of “the Force”, which allows him to throw objects and choke people with his mind. He also boasts incredible strength that allows him to lift people into the air and snap their neck with one hand. If this wasn’t perilous enough, Vader has a lightsaber that can cut through almost anything. His only weakness is his lack of maneuverability. Since the majority of his body is mechanical, he can’t run or dodge very easily. He partially compensates for this with the excessive plate armor that covers his body. Intimidation alone may be enough to sway battles in Vader’s favor.

The Terminator: This villain is literally a killing machine. He knows how to use all kinds of modern weaponry, but he doesn’t need that to kill you. He can easily just crush your skull in his metal fist. Aside from being so deadly, the Terminator’s other characteristic is his ultra-hard metal skeleton. Simply put, this robot is hard to kill. And you better make sure you do kill him, because he won’t stop until you do. That’s the other fact about the Terminator. His only drive in life is to kill you, no matter what.

Vote Voldemort Scar
Vote here for Voldemort vs. Scar.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Not only is this guy scary, he’s so scary that an entire society of people who can shoot fire and control dragons are afraid to say his name. That’s pretty freaking scary. Voldemort is pretty intimidating with his weird little snake face, and if you give him enough time to say his incantation, he can kill you instantly. Of course, if you are a bit more quick on the draw, you can easily kill the guy, seeing as his only form of armor is a flowing cloak. Although I’m not an expert in the dark arts, I don’t think that’s impervious to blades or bullets. Even still, He-who-must-not-be-named isn’t someone you want to mess with.

The Lion King : Scar is one of the rare Disney villains to actually kill someone. Scar is a lion, which gives him an extreme advantage when it comes to agility and reflexes. His claws and teeth also provide natural weapons in combat. Being a lion, he doesn’t have any significant defensive benefits, but Scar is more of a schemer, luring his victims into a false sense of familiarity and then going for the throat.

Vote Saruman Agent Smith
Vote here for Saruman vs. Agent Smith.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring : This white wizard may look frail and old, but his dark power is near unrivaled in middle earth. He can shoot fire and lightning from his mystical staff, and can use incantations to summon blizzards and storms. Being able to push and pull people with his magic will come in very handy in close combat situations. He bears no armor, but doesn’t really need it when he can summon a magic force field around himself. His only real weakness is his magic staff, because if it’s broken, he is just as frail and weak as he looks.

The Matrix :Smith is a construct of the Matrix: a computer simulation that mimics the real world. Being part of the program, Smith is able to bend some of the laws of reality, which allows him to move at superhuman speed and punch through walls. Smith is proficient in gun use and is an expert in all forms of close quarters combat including Kung-Fu, Karate, and Boxing. Smith thinks like a machine, smooth and efficiently, but lacks the creative imagination of most villains. This makes him very predictable in many situations and is a flaw that could lead to his downfall.

Vote Jaws Regan
Vote here for Jaws vs. Regan.

Jaws :This creature is a pure force of destruction. Nearly the size of an average fishing boat, this great white shark has brutal jaws that can tear through wood and metal. Once his bloodlust has begun, there’s nothing to deter him from killing everything in sight. Using the ocean as a home turf, Jaws can appear and disappear into its great depths at any given time. This makes him unpredictably dangerous. Bullets and harpoons aren’t enough to dispose of this crazed beast. It seems that it takes a huge explosion to really finish the job.

The Exorcist :This little girl isn’t a real threat in itself, except for the fact that she is possessed by the Devil. This possession brings with it telekinetic powers, superhuman strength, and inhuman feats that no normal human could endure. Regan’s true power is near limitless, but she enjoys toying with her victims before she really finishes them off. For many, her biting words and horrifying acts will be enough to petrify them. Of course, she is still a little girl, and if the demon inside her lets its guard down, it wouldn’t be hard to dispatch her.

Vote Emperor Palpatine Ghostface
Vote here for Emperor Palpatine vs. Ghostface.

Star Wars: Episode 6- Return of the Jedi: There’s a good reason that this man is the most feared in the universe. Even though Emperor Palpatine appears to be only a frail old man, he controls a substantial amount of power. He can shoot streams of lighting from his hands, and is one of the most powerful practitioners of the force. Although his power is substantial, the Emperor is incredibly old and weak. If an enemy is armored or quick enough, the battle could be over quicker than most.

Scream : This killer isn’t superhuman like many of the slashers on this list, but he does one thing that they never try: run. Ghostface has a bonus of agility to go with his terrifyingly blank appearance. His only weapon of choice is a simple combat knife, but his ability to terrorize his victims is all he might need to sway a battle in his favor. He’s all flesh and blood underneath the cloak, so if someone can get to him with any type of weapon, it’s doubtful he has much of a chance to survive.

Vote Boba Fett Patrick Bateman
Vote here for Boba Fett vs. Patrick Bateman.

Star Wars: Episode 5- The Empire Strikes Back : This mercenary is considered one of the greatest bounty hunters in the entire galaxy, and for good reason. Fett has a near unstoppable arsenal of flamethrowers, blaster rifles, thermal detonators, anti-tank missiles, and smoke bombs. Mix that heavy offense with the solid defense of his plated Mandalorian armor, and you have someone near unstoppable. The only real weakness for Fett is his maneuverability in all that armor, but his specially designed jetpack offsets that a bit. If an enemy is going to best Fett, they need to move quickly, accurately, and go straight for the kill, because if they won’t, he will.

American Psycho : Patrick…is a psycho. An American psycho if you will. The stresses of his job and the social anxieties therein drive him to kill people as a relaxant. Patrick has spent a ludicrous amount of time perfecting and toning his body, giving him his maximum possible strength and stamina. He uses a range of weapons from a small knife, to a modest crowbar, to a hulking chainsaw. His level of motivation is enough to drive his rage and insanity into a more focused killing force. He isn’t sloppy. He is calculating and unafraid of death or retribution. One of the scariest things is a man that enjoys killing. Patrick Bateman revels in it.

Vote Darth Maul Pinhead
Vote here for Darth Maul vs. Pinhead.

Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace: Although this dark Jedi didn’t die very gracefully, his skill is still greater than almost any Jedi of his age. Maul is a Zabrak, a species known for ritualistic death and cannibalism, which wields the fearsome double-bladed lightsaber. Maul is an aggressive fighter and has the skill to handle multiple Jedi Masters at once. Maul’s lightsaber is twice as deadly as your average blade, since it has two points of attack. This gives Maul many more options when it comes to attacks. But of course, a Sith’s undoing is always his arrogance, and Maul’s got plenty to distract him.

Hellraiser: Pinhead is a Cenobite, a race of extra dimensional beings that revel in the “joy of suffering”. He imprisons whoever is foolish enough to solve his puzzle box in a chamber of eternal horrors. When in the real world, Pinhead has telekinetic powers that allow him to demolish buildings and tear through reality himself. The other important aspect of Pinhead is that he enjoys pain. This means that he won’t stop until you kill him, and every non-lethal blow you land is simply more fun for him. If his enemy can seize his mystical puzzle box and seal it, Pinhead will automatically be cast back into the pit of despair. This is a huge weakness for Pinhead, and could be the deciding factor in a fight.

Vote White Witch Alien
Vote here for White Witch vs. Alien.

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe : This ice queen is almost useless when it comes to actual combat, but her magical power is so great that she is a constant threat to anyone she meets. The White Witch is the brutal dictator of the magical land of Narnia. She holds the power to turn people and animals into stone with the flick of a wand. Although this is a terrifying concept in itself, if a villain is fast enough, the witch can be pacified before she can even draw her wand. Without more than a few robes, the witch is at huge risk of injury, so she’ll have to be pretty quick on the draw.

Alien: This creature has one goal in its existence: the continuation of its species. Unfortunately for everyone else, its offspring require a life host to mature inside of. The Alien moves faster than most sensors can even follow, and it instinctively uses shadow to disguise itself and stalk its prey. The Alien has a strong tail that can pierce through flesh and has a second set of jaws that behave similarly to a snapping turtle with knives attached to it. Its thick carapace can withstand most blades, but isn’t resistant to bullets, giving the more projectile based villains a distinct advantage.

Voldie vs. Scar

Voldemort vs. Scar seems like quite the match-up. Two favorite villians, one from childhood memories, one from current movies. Who will win...?

Voldemort!

Voldemort!

Scar!

Scar!

Scar!

I agree, Scar will win! Let's make it happen!

No photo provided

Definitely the Best

I have to agree that this is easily the best match-up of the round. I think, however, that Scar has the slight advantage.

No photo provided

Advantage?

What do you mean by advantage? He's a lion, and Voldemort can bend physics with his wand. Or do Voldemort's spells not work on animated lions?

No photo provided

Voldy wins

As much as we may love Scar, this is the "deadliest villains" matchup, not the "most beloved villains" matchup. And, honestly, Voldemort has an entire arsenal of different magic techniques up his sleeve, while Scar has, what?

Will Erickson's picture

huh

I assumed people had forgotten it was "deadliest villains"

Clarification

I guess what I meant was that people may love Scar, but Voldemort has a lot more frightening techniques.

Margarita Mouschovias's picture

*Dead*

The battle:
Scar: I killed Mufa-
Voldemort: Avada Kedavra!
Scar: *Dead*

Actually

It would turn out more like this
Scar: (Growls while running toward Voldemort)
Voldemort: Avadra Kedavra!
Scar: Ack! (He dies)

Winner: Voldemort

Margarita Mouschovias's picture

True, but

Good point, although you usually don't have time to talk after being Avada Kedavra-ed.

Definitely Voldy.

Definitely Voldy.

Yes! :)

Yes! :)

I agree

Voldy will win!

really guys?

as of this moment, 183 votes have been tallied on the voldemort/Scar fight. Take another fight however, like, say, white witch/alien and you've got 33. Are you guys really THIS obsessed with these characters?

Popularity

Well, popularity of those characters must have something to do with it. Some of these movies I have personally never seen.

Darth Maul and Boba Fett and

Darth Maul and Boba Fett and Scar!

Popularity is definitely

Popularity is definitely important, that's probably how Scar even stayed in the match this long. But put him against Voldy and he has nothing. And then Nagini eats the pixely lion for dinner!

Blood for the Blood Gods

I will sacrifice my firstborn child in order to ensure Voldemort's victory

I don't think

I don't think you need to be that extreme. He's got it in the bag anyways.

VCU

Scar is the VCU of this bracket. Final four here we come!!!
