Gargoyle guide to the week in entertainment, May 24-30

This is it! It's almost done! So close! For the final finals push, we've picked out our favorite new releases for your break times and end-of-school celebrations. Check out "Prince of Persia" in theaters, based on the popular video game. On shelves is a wicked new CD/DVD from All Time Low, and gamers will be psyched for "Super Mario Galaxy 2." Yes!

Finals finals finals! Well, almost. But if you need a distraction, "Shrek Forever After" comes out this week — if you've seen the other three, you have to finish the series! If you want some music while you study, however, Band of Horses are back with a snazzy new album, alongside the highly anticipated Nas/Damien Marley collaboration. Check inside for more.

It's the end-of-the-year pull, but if you have time to spare when you're not studying for finals or participating in the 5K, the entertainment world doesn't disappoint. In theaters is the adorable "Letters to Juliet," and in stores is The National's new album, "High Violet," alongside the video game "Skate Three." Check inside to see what else is new this week.

Happy X-Week! As Uni raises money for a worthy charity, don't forget there are some great new movies coming out, including the much-talked-about "Iron Man 2"! Also in stores are the highly anticipated indie rock titans The New Pornographers and Broken Social Scene. And, of course, don't miss Big Show this weekend!

It's prom time! If you're not going (or you're too young), however, there are plenty of other things to keep you occupied this weekend. The horror film "Nightmare on Elm Street" opens alongside the romantic comedy "Please Give" for the faint of heart, and The Mynabirds' debut release, "What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood," hits the shelves. Check inside for more.

Well, there are some movies coming out, and they're OK. "Avatar" is on DVD, and that was prety good, too. Music looks fine, nothing special. But … Ebertfest is in town! With all sorts of great movies! And great directors! And Roger Ebert! Let's go do that! (But still, you should check inside to find out what else the entertainment world has to offer this week.)

Gargoyle guide to the week in entertainment, April 12-18

It is a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful week. If you plan on staying in, the comedy "Death at a Funeral" opens in theaters, and the new MGMT album, "Congratulations," is out in stores. If you really want to celebrate, though, you'll get outside and check out the annual Boneyard Arts Festival! Check inside for more.

It's spring, it's fourth quarter, and it's beautiful! We're so excited for everything, we're excited for Life … in particular, we're excited for Tina Fey in the upcoming "Date Night"! That's not all, though. With Dr. Dog's sweet and summery new album on shelves, as well as the cheap and science-filled "Relativity" for gamers, this looks to be a great week in entertainment.

Well, break is over, and the OG weekly entertainment guide is back. Surely the arrival of spring must be good news for fans of quality movies, music, and video games, right? Check inside for the verdict from our resident experts. Hey, any movie that names itself after Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass" can't be all bad.

It's getting warmer, and spring break is just around the bend! If the weather itself isn't enough incentive to get out of bed, however, Jennifer Aniston's new comedy, "The Bounty Hunter," is out in theaters, alongside the more edgy "Repo Men." The music world too is feeling fresh, with new releases from the Disco Biscuits and folk stars She & Him. Check inside for more.

Gargoyle guide to the week in entertainment, March 8-14

Oh man, this week is great. Despite the end-of-the-quarter chaos, we can't help but love the sun — and, of course, Robert Pattinson! His new chick flick "Remember Me" hits theaters later this week, and with Broken Bells' eponymous album on shelves and "Yakuza 3" for gamers, we feel it's a great week in entertainment. And don't forget about Engineering Open House!

Gargoyle guide to the week in entertainment, March 1-7

It's finally March, but we're not thinking about the weather when Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" is coming out! If you won't be joining us to watch Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and the rest of this all-star cast, maybe you'll want to take a look at "Alice in Wonderland" the video game, or tour Wonderland at the Orpheum! Not that we're a little fixated this week. Not at all.

Agora is over. We miss it already. But on the upside, it's almost spring, and sunshine is so close we can feel it. In the meantime, though, "Cop Out" and "The Crazies" arrive in theaters this week, and other offerings in CDs, DVDs, and video games can tide us over.

Gargoyle guide to the week in entertainment, Agora Days '10 edition

It's finally Agora Days! It's here! We can hardly believe it! If the lack of homework (or excess of homework that you are putting off till the weekend) has left you with too much time on your hands, however, the twistedly interesting "Shutter Island" opens in theaters this week, alongside the DVd "Coco Before Chanel" and CD "Field Music (Measure)" on shelves.
