Uni's next shooting star: Getting to know Jamie Blue

Next year, without 1,000-point scorer Rachel Skoza, the Uni girls won't have to look far to find their next great player. She's Jamie Blue, who's already making a name for herself in varsity hoops. Just a freshman, the 5-foot-9 Blue ranks seventh in the area in points and steals, eighth in assists, and 13th in rebounds.

Chess: Uni defeats LaSalette, now 14-0

After getting a week off due to bad weather, the Uni chess team returned strong Thursday and remained at the top of the East Central Illinois Chess League by defeating Georgetown Notre Dame de LaSalette in two rounds. The Illineks will conclude league play next week against Bloomington and rival Normal University High School in one-round matches.

Boys basketball: Late comeback falls short as Illineks lose at Decatur Lutheran

The Illineks started out hot and rallied at the end, but Decatur Lutheran proved to be too much as Uni fell 50-41. Dan Lilly led the offense with 16 points on four treys, and Warren Skoza led the defense with 11 rebounds, five blocks, and two steals. The Illineks (10-6, 4-2) play again Saturday at PBL.
