Student Council executive elections 2011-2012: Meet the candidates

In preparation for Student Council's 2011-2011 executive elections this Friday, April 29, the OG is publishing the bios of all the candidates. The election will take place from first through fifth period in the kitchen. Voting is open to all current subfreshmen through juniors. Bios were also sent out in a schoolwide e-mail. Please note that all bios are published just as they were sent in, with no editing.

Surviving visiting day: A guide for prospective students

On April 21, acceptance decisions were mailed out to prospective subfreshmen of the class of 2016. This week, these students will start visiting Uni to get their first impressions of the school. The following is a comprehensive guide for these students, as well as for the subfreshmen hosts that will show them around.

Prom '11 Slideshow: Dinner before dancing

This past Saturday, April 16, Uni's upperclassmen danced the night away at prom. Hosted by the junior class, prom this year was held from 7 p.m.-12 a.m. at Kennedy's at Stone Creek. For those who missed out on prom, or want to relive it, the Gargoyle captured pictures of the night.

Coming together for Clarksdale: Habitat for Humanity Club holds a community brunch

This Sunday, May 1, Uni High's Habitat for Humanity club is sponsoring and serving a brunch buffet at New Covenant Fellowship Church in Champaign. According to Uni High senior and long-time Habitat club member Buck Walsh, "Habitat for Humanity is all about a caring community helping out its fellow members who aren't as fortunate, and so hopefully thats what we can do [at the event]- expand the caring community."

Blog: Have you made the most of your Uni experience?

Uni offers some truly special opportunities, and I hope that before everyone graduates they can experience as many of them as possible. Here's my list:

1. Get to know all your classmates
Be friendly enough to have had a real conversation with everyone in the class--you could make a connection, learn something new, or at least know that you tried.
