Death Penalty Abolished in Illinois

On March 9, Governor Pat Quinn abolished the death penalty in Illinois. He reasoned that the court could never be 100% sure of anyone's guilt and he did not want someone who is innocent to be executed. The fifteen prisoners on death row have had their sentences changed to life imprisonment.
