Books
Books about British history are in the 942s and 914.2s. Check both the Reference and nonfiction sections of the Uni High Library. You can search these call numbers in the public libraries and other University of Illinois libraries.
Also, use the online catalog with your particular subject as a search term. The best way to start is using the Subject Headings search to find your topic. If you're not successful, you can try using an Any Word Anywhere search, then click on appropriate Subject Headings in the record of a book that fits your topic.

Historical Abstracts
Identifies international articles and books on history since 1450, excluding the U.S. and Canada.
JSTOR searches full-text for backfile articles and reviews in over 130 multi-disciplinary journals. See Project Muse (below) for more recent articles.
Project Muse searches full-text in over 150 journals supplied by 10 university presses. Click on the search button to start your search. Muse works well for more recent periodical issues, while JSTOR (see above) reproduces older volumes.
Finally, consider the general periodical databases that are linked to from the Library's home page. Your best bets are Ebsco's Academic Search Premier, Infotrac's Academic OneFile and Infotrac's Expanded Academic ASAP.
