INTRODUCTION
The East Central Illinois Conference Member schools have formed this athletic conference based on equity of competition and proximity of location. All activities shall be conducted with the knowledge that we are a conference of different missions and we will always be respectful of our differences and will strive to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for all of our visitors. Communication is essential to the existence of any partnership therefore, the ECIC recognizes the importance of good communication between member schools.
Good sportsmanship is the attitude and behavior that exemplifies positive support for the interscholastic programs of ECIC member schools, as well as for the individuals who participate in their programs.
The ECIC coach should exemplify the highest moral character, behavior and leadership. The coach should set a good example for their players and spectators, as all are looking to them as the leader.
The ECIC athlete should treat their opponents, game officials and fans with respect. The
athlete should protect and respect the integrity of the game and respect the privilege of representing your school and community.
The ECIC fan should cheer on and uplift their team and should refrain from derogatory comments directed toward opposing players, coaches or game officials. The fan should show respect for the game by learning the rules of the game and by treating all game participants as they would like to be treated.
The ECIC hopes that all member schools, student athletes, and fans will enjoy the activities and will support all athletes in a positive and sportsmanlike manner!
The ECIC member schools agree that prior to the start of the season, each school’s administrators are accountable for discussing with their coaches and athletes the ECIC’s expectations for their behavior and sportsmanship. - added 11/15/07
