Since its opening in 1921, Uni has offered a variety of sports programs to its students. Subfreshman, who enter Uni into a combined 7th/8th school year, play sports against other junior high and middle school teams from around the area.

Currently, during the winter season Uni is a member of the Illini Conference for the sport of basketball. Subbies also compete in cross country and track but not in a conference.
