Summer Enrichment for 2009-2010 (5th & 6th Graders)
University Laboratory High School, "Uni," is a public high school committed to excellence and innovation in education.Unlike most public high schools, Uni has a competitive admissions process and invites all academically talented students to apply for admission. Uni provides a balanced educational program that enhances the intellectual, creative, social, and physical development of academically talented and motivated students.
The Uni Summer Enrichment Program is intended to provide learning opportunities for students from groups historically under-represented in programs for academically talented students. To be eligible for the camp, students must be entering 5th or 6th grade in the fall. This summer, the program will include the following components.

| Explore the World and Define Yourself |

Dates: June 22 – 26 Times: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Cost: $25.00 Travel the world and learn some of the thousands of forms of communication used by people of different cultures past and present. Learn to "read" cloth, stone, beads, knots, shields, and create your own versions of these pieces of personal art. As you make cultural connections of your own, enjoy the connections others make. Create one fabulous final project that includes something of everyone! |

Dates: June 29 – July 3 and July 6 – 10 Times: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Cost: $50.00 Build and program robots in this engaging two-week session! Work with Lego Mindstorm kits and laptops to discover the possibilities and limits of robots. Visit with top labs and scientists on the University of Illinois campus who work with and on robots everyday through mini-field trips. Explore mathematical concepts that underlie the science of robots and computer programming. Expand your understanding and having fun--a winning combination! |
