Uni Grants
Uni offers two different types of grants to its students and faculty.
Stoddard Award
Ellie Stoddard Seibold (1950 Graduate of University Laboratory High School) established the Stoddard Faculty Support Endowment Fund in 2001. In explaining why she made a gift of $100,000 to endow the award, Ellie noted: “I am sure that you understand that ‘home’ when I was in high school was Uni High. Over the years I have talked with various other classmates and schoolmates and discovered that some of us hand many of the same feelings about arriving at the school. Having not grown up in Champaign-Urbana, we knew no one at all, and we felt as if some airplane flew over those towns and parachuted us right onto the front door of Uni High. There we were greeted by old students who took us under their wings. There was not a time when we didn’t feel a part of the school…. . There is a special bond with those who were there ahead of me and behind me in the early ‘50s. That said, the faculty was equally helpful, especially those who seemed most to care about students—many had been there for years; others, studying on the GI Bill, were getting their graduate degrees. You can have the very best students in the
world, all those self-motivated types, but they still need guidance now and then, and a feeling of personal interest and contact that a school size of Uni High does best. I would not want you to lose such faculty or that relationship”.
