• The Uni junior ran the 400 in 49.74 seconds in Saturday's championship race at EIU

• Sophomore Ben Asmus of Heyworth won with a time of 49.11

• Taylor joins Warren Goodell as the highest-placing Uni boys state track medalist in school history

• Goodell was state runner-up in the 880-yard run in 1941

• This is the second time Taylor and Asmus have run against each other

• They competed in last week's Monticello sectional

• Taylor won that race by two-tenths of a second (49.20 - 49.40)

• No other Uni athletes advanced to Saturday's finals
