URBANA — Junior Dan Lilly had 20 points on four three-pointers and sophomore Warren Skoza had 14 points and six blocks to lead Uni to a 67-37 conference victory over visiting DeLand-Weldon as Spirit Week ended Friday night at Kenney Gym.

With the win, Uni improves to 9-5 overall, with a 4-1 mark in the East Central Illinois Conference.

Uni has now won 14 in a row over DeLand-Weldon, having not lost to the Eagles since the 1997-98 season. Of those wins, the last nine have been by double-digits.

The Illineks took an early lead, going up 12-8 by the end of the first quarter. Uni extended that margin in the second quarter and built a comfortable 34-18 advantage by halftime.

The Eagles stayed close early in the second half, narrowing the margin to 12 midway through the second half. But Uni dominated in the fourth quarter, holding the Eagles to just four points in contrast to 22 of their own to close out the victory.

Besides Lilly and Skoza, senior Alan Kessler also scored in double figures for the Illineks, netting 11 points to go with a team-high eight rebounds.

Sophomore Will Fernandez and junior Neil Pearson each had eight points. Pearson was the only Illinek besides Lilly to hit a three-pointer, with two.

Zach Roberts scored 18 to lead the Eagles.

The Illineks next play against nonconference foe Arthur-Okaw Christian at home on Monday. The next conference matchup is at Decatur Lutheran on Thursday.

In JV action, the Uni JV defeated DeLand-Weldon 37-28.
