Six Uni seniors recognized as "Best of Class"

URBANA — Since 1983, local CBS affiliate WCIA has honored the area's top-ranking seniors during graduation season with a series of one-minute TV spots called "Best of Class."

The program is designed to recognize the students with the highest grade point average in their class. This year is the third year in which WCIA has allowed schools to submit the names of all seniors who will graduate with the highest GPA in their class. Previously, schools were only allowed to submit two names.

This year, according to Director of College Counseling Lisa Micele, the six seniors who have a 4.00 grade point average are:

  • Vaishnavi Giridaran
  • Rachel Hyman
  • Karolina Kalbarczyk
  • Alan Liang
  • Andrew Lovdahl
  • Natsuki Nakamura

Video taping for the program will take place May 16 at Lake of the Woods Park in Mahomet.

Last year, 18 Uni seniors were recognized in "Best of Class."
