WAITING FOR A cast list to be posted is never easy, even if it's for just a day, especially when the casting possibilities are nearly endless.
The hopefuls for this year's spring musical, "West Side Story," had it especially rough.
While auditions occurred more than a week ago, the cast list, and not even the entire cast list, was posted just yesterday.
Due to a family emergency, director Barbara Ridenour was pulled away for all of last week, postponing not only an official decision, but the start of rehearsals.
Every person who auditioned will be in the show, but due to the high level of talent found at the auditions this year, Ridenour and music director Rick Murphy felt they could not yet cast the majority of the roles, which will be determined as rehearsals progress.
As for the classic couple of Maria and Tony, they will be played by seniors Sheri Grill and Daniel Borup.
Bernardo, Maria's brother and the leader of the Sharks, will be played by senior Teddy Zamora-Mills, and senior Sarah Lake-Rayburn has been cast his girlfriend, Anita.
Junior Zack Goldberg will portray Riff, the leader of the Jets.
"West Side Story" will be performed in the North Attic Playhouse at 7 p.m. April 2 and 7:30 p.m. April 3 and 4.
