URBANA — A whopping 27 Uni students have been named all-district musicians by the Illinois Music Educators Association, 15 at the high school level and 12 at the junior high level.

The students auditioned for IMEA District 3 honors Oct. 13 at Bloomington High School. The district jazz festival is scheduled for Nov. 1 at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. The district junior/senior festival will be held Nov. 22 at Illinois State University in Normal.

The top high school musicians will be invited to participate in the IMEA all-state conference Jan. 28-31 in Peoria. The conference will conclude at Carver Arena with the annual all-state and honors concerts.

The following Uni students earned IMEA District 3 honors at the high school or junior high level:

Last year, 11 Uni students were named all-district musicians at the high school level and five at the junior high level.

Five of this year's honorees earned all-district honors in 2007: Borup (chorus), Clement Dossin (jazz band), Floess (band), Han (band), and Rong (junior high orchestra). This is Floess' third year as an honoree.
