Yearbook takes second place in Eastern Illinois contest

LAST YEAR'S EDITION of the Uni High yearbook has won a host of awards in the 2007 Eastern Illinois High School Press Association yearbook competition.
The 2006-07 book — advised by Joel Beesley and edited by Daniel Ito, Annie Liang, Frankie McFarland, and Suran Yoo — won second place overall in the under-500 enrollment category. First place went to the University of Chicago Laboratory High School.
Uni's staff won first place for best layout and design; second place for best copy, best use of photography, and best sports coverage; and third place for best coverage of the school year.

In the other enrollment categories, best overall awards went to Carbondale Community High (500-1,200 enrollment) and Champaign Centennial High (more than 1,200 enrollment).
Among last year's editors of the Uni yearbook, Liang and Ito have graduated. McFarland and Yoo are back as seniors.
