Death is just another part of life...

The library is a good place to get grossed out. If, for example, you happen to have a fascination with death, let me tempt you with these titles.

Corpses, Coffins, and Crypts: A History of Burial by Penny Colman
393.09 C71c
Find out how long it is before a body starts to decompose, where corposes end up, and where famous people are buried.

Buried Alive: The Terrifying History of Our Most Primal Fear by Jan Bondeson
616.078 B6409b
Ever hear of hospitals for the dead? These are waiting mortuaries, places to house recently dead people and keep them under surveillance (to be sure they are really dead) until the onset of putrefaction. To find out which century, you'll have to read the book.

Last Breath: Cautionary Tales from the Limits of Human Endurance by Peter Stark
616 St283
True stories of what it feels like to drown, contract malaria, experience hypothermia. Some of these people make it and some don't.

And that's not all. Check the shelves where these books live (pun intended). I'm also waiting for the return of Stiff: the Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. Who could resist a chapter title like "Eat me: Medicinal cannibalism and the case of the human dumplings"?
