MySpace ... Facebook ... NEXT!
We all have been part of the MySpace/Facebook craze that made everyone addicted to these kind of Web sites. But as we all know, sooner or later the craze will die down and MySpace will be a thing of the past. Is spending hours on MySpace and Facebook really worth it?
I mean, if you put things into perspective, spending three hours every day looking for people you have heard of to add to your 10-page friend list or posting 50 gazillion random comments everywhere just doesn’t mean anything.
You know things are out of control when your actual life gets dictated by an online friends network. Admit it: You are constantly checking to see whether your friends have moved you in their top eight. Or your day may get better just because you see that you received a new comment/message/friend request. This kind of behavior is unhealthy and obsessive.
In the end, you have gained nothing but a few more “friends” and a few more profile views — and that doesn’t have any significance. It is really just a waste of time when all is said and done.
Remember Xanga? People thought that it was the coolest thing ever, and they would spend hours blogging their feelings and the most random things. A few years down the road, what happened? No one even remembers what Xanga is anymore.
So my point is that MySpace and Facebook might be fun and great for a while, but you shouldn’t dedicate your life to them because they won’t mean anything once the hype dies down. Who knows, there might be a better MySpace-ish Web site next week, and all the time you spent decorating your profile will be a waste and you won’t get even one profile view anymore.
