THE FINAL COUNTDOWN has begun: This year's spring musical, Cole Porter's “Anything Goes,” will be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in the North Attic Playhouse. Tickets go on sale Monday. (See the slideshow above for more information about show times and tickets.)
Barbara Ridenour is director of Uni's production. Rick Murphy is music director.
“Anything Goes” debuted at the Alvin Theatre in New York City on Nov. 21, 1934, and it became one of the longest-running musicals of the 1930s. Porter wrote the music and lyrics. P.G. Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay, Russel Crouse, and Guy Bolton collaborated on the book.
The action takes place on the cruise ship S.S. American, which is sailing from New York to England. The passengers are an assortment of vivid characters variously involved in romance, seduction, status obsession, and attempts to stay clear of the law.
The cast list of Uni High's production is featured at the end of the slideshow. Look for more Gargoyle coverage throughout this week. Be sure to follow cast member Michelle Gao as she chronicles the experiences behind the scenes.
