WELCOME FROM THE ADVANCEMENT OFFICE
Just before the school year ended this past spring, I was interviewed by a student reporter for the Gargoyle and asked if my impressions of Uni and its students had changed during my first year as director. It was with a smile that I gave the following answer, “I expected Uni to be a place where there are very smart kids and very dedicated faculty, a place that’s a little bit funky, where the things are done in an unusual way, and kids have unusual interests. I guess, if anything, it’s a little funkier than I thought! We’ve got all kinds of crazy things going on here.”
I am certain that as a Uni alum, you can understand and appreciate my reference to the “crazy things” that go on each year. Uni is more than just a school. It is a community that seeks to spark the creative fervor and high aspirations of talented young people. Every year our outstanding teachers challenge students through traditional and experimental strategies.
We hope you will stay in touch with your unique and vibrant alma mater. One of the pleasures of my first year here has been to meet so many wonderfully interesting alumni who love the school so deeply. We appreciate your using this link (Update) to update your information and share the milestones in your lives since you’ve graduated.
Gifts like yours touch every aspect of your students’ lives here. Yearly contributions provide flexible resources that enhance the technology in our classrooms and make our outstanding extracurricular activities available to all students. In short, your support helps to ensure that the dynamic – and sometimes crazy – environment that is Uni will be here for future generations.
To make your gift, please visit our secure giving site at www.uni.illinois.edu/support-uni or contact the Advancement Office at 217-244-5248, pcurtis@illinois.edu. As you may be aware, state support provides only a portion of the cost of a Uni education. Private support from donors like you accounts for at least a quarter of our total budget each year. I’ve seen firsthand the difference that your gift makes and urge you to show your support today.
